1. Describe what a pinhole camera is and explain how it works.
a camera with no lens and a very small single aperture

2. Write a short biography of Annie Leibovitz and her photography.
She is a jewish photographer who has worked for Rolling Stone magazine and Vanity Fair. She was also the last person to professionally photograph John Lennon. The photoshoot was between John Lennon and Yoko Ono where they were curled up as if they were cold, it turned out beautiful, five hours after the photoshoot ended, he was shot and killed.

3. Who were some of the famous people she photographed?
John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Queen Elizabeth II, Demi Moore, and Miley Cyrus.

black and white photography questions

1. What are the three basic elements of a camera?
An optical element (the lens), a chemical element (the film), and a mechanical element (the camera body itself)

2. What is an SLR camera?
Single-lens-reflex, where the photographer sees exactly the same image that is exposed to the film and can adjust everything by turning dials and clicking buttons.

3. What is the purpose of a camera's aperture?
To increase or decrease the amount of light passing through the lens

4. What does shutter speed on a camera control?
The length of exposure

5. To get the right exposure for a picture, what three things must be balanced?
Film speed, aperture size, and shutter speed

6. To take pictures outside on a very sunny day, would you use a high or low film speed? Why?

7. What are the four steps for developing black and white film?
1. The film is placed in developing agent that is actually a reducing agent.
2. Complete the developing process by rinsing the film with water, or by using a “stop” bath that arrests the development process
3. The unexposed silver-halide crystals are removed in what is called the fixing bath.
4. The film is washed with water to remove all the processing chemicals. The filmstrip is dried, and the individual exposures are cut into negatives.
